    OMG are you kidding me?!

    hahahaha

    It’s in 4/4, with some really strange (and cool) accents that throw off the tempo sometimes. swing feel too

  11. Jkrome on March 30th, 2010 7:36 am

    Nah. Its in 5/3. I listened quickly by ear. Trust me.

  12. NathanKinnaman on March 31st, 2010 1:05 pm

    LOL trust him!!

    @Jkrome
    5/3 is not a time signature used by humans (you’re thinking of 5/3). also, have the transcription and it’s in 4/4

  14. 00Dakka on April 1st, 2010 7:06 am

    @00Dakka
    I meant 5/4 damnit. the denominators of time signatures only come in factors of four (I think)

    This is lovely – I think the writing and technique are superb, but he doesn’t have the rhythmic precision of McKee – still its superhuman in my book

  16. michaelluke on April 2nd, 2010 9:53 am

    @TheDigger2010
    you don’t think he has rhythmic precision…? I think maybe thats the brain lagg you’re having from him blowing your mind.

    sorry to debunk your own personal skills michaelluke but you’re not listening properly – the runs are impressive but COMPARED to Andy McKee they are messy. I do like Dufour’s pieces very much – in fact I think his compositions are better, but if you want rhythmic precision he is not your man.

    Even though they do very similar styles of percussive acoustic guitar, trying to compare Andy McKee to Antoine Dufour is like comparing apples to oranges. McKee dominates when it comes to the slapping, tapping, knocking (ie. left hand hitting various guitar body parts) and keeping the beat while doing so. Dufour learned these techniques from Andy (and Hedges, etc.). But Dufour has the edge when it comes to composing. His baselines, chord progressions, and technical variations are innovative.

    hmm well I think that Antoine Dufour’s style is more sophisticated than Andy Mckee’s although both the guitarists are brilliant in their own way. You can never compare them and draw a conclusion.

    Why can’t people just enjoy these songs rather than get into the stupid argument of who’s better? Just be glad that you can hear these songs.
