waynealarsen,
I think he expressed with that comment how much he missed playing with WR since at the time this was taped he was out of work.
he had made himself un reliable and a bit of a liablity by then. so when he is lauded as this greatest player he spouts out “just get me a gig” like I’m in trouble now, some one give me another chance. but that was his crarm, his going off with the fuzz box in his amp and playing star spangled banner on 4th of july and then swimming in the east river. LEGEND.
Nice… That’s a Mörch bass! Google it.
jerry definitely farts at 2:58 Right after he says “he plays it better than I do.”
He looks tired and drunk…..i loved his style of bass and his word of mouth band.
Alot of Jaco clones have awesome technique but no music in them – Jaco r.ip.
hahaha! holy sh*t, he does! that made me lose my shit
Does someone know whats the name of the song which starts around 2:02?
who is the interviewer
Jerry Jemmott, a fantastic bassist in his own right.
thats too funny man
Sure do, it’s “I Want You So Bad”, off of B.B. King’s, Llive and Well recording. That was around the same time BB recorded, The Thrill is Gone. Classic stuff, mate!
what a pure creation on god.. they are the jazz
hahahahahahhhahahahahahaha
he talks like alot of jazz musicians i know lol…they just got those soulful voices..jaco was one of them…rip
yup
i like studying jacos technique
but IN MY OWN STYLE i dont wanna be just some wannabe jaco…
if u gonna study jaco….put it with your own style
greatest bassit of all time
lol
then stanley clarke
mingus jaco and milt hinton are the 3 best…clarke is just fast
I think Jaco was drinking during this interview. He starts of sober but seems to get more drunk as the video goes on. Im not trying to be an ass. He was in a dark place at the time. Bi-polar together with alcohol and drugs.
thats probably why the 3 you mentioned is among the 4 bassists that have been inducted to the Down Beat Hall of Fame.
wait whats the 4th?
@Doderhultarn89 he wasn’t bi-polar !!! Maybe did some drugs but he no bi-polar.
think i read somewhere he was bi-polar. might be wrong.
it was kindof obvious that he was
Actually, I thought so too but I read his biography and it says that during the recording of this video, they actually brought in a guard to watch over him and make sure he didn’t do anything funny. Of course we’ll never know, Jaco always found some way to get what he wanted.
@kdjfnvjvd Obvious He was Bi polar… i read it somewhere… But only people who was near to him only Know… But if he was taking drugs and was drinking you cant know actually cause they have effects like Bipolar…
2:58 Jerry totally farts.
