Electric Bass

Matthew Darke playing electric bass. In the last part, he's using motion to control a low-pass filter (wah-wah pedal). What do you think?

That’s a prototype of the Thummer(r) — a forthcoming electronic musical instrument from Thumtronics Inc of Austin, TX. Not yet available, it is expected to be released in 2008. See thummer [.] com.

Jim, don’t forget to bring the thummer to major cities like Chicago! Those are major centers for creativity!

  9. JimPlamondon on June 13th, 2007 1:39 am

Tektive, once it’s released, you’ll be able to buy it over the Internet — even from Chicago-land! :-) I hope to visit Chicago’s universities etc. to discuss Thumtronics’ innovations — esp. things like Dynamic Tuning (see thummer [.] com [/] ThumTone/X_System_Overview [.pdf].

Cool, I’m just saying if you demonstrate it in Chicago and you get enough attention, it’ll be a cinch for the thummer to sell, heck if the mayor sees it while you’re explaining how great the thummer would be for music education, the thummer would probably even get into the city high schools! All I know is that I want one!

just learn how to play a bass
    what a lame invention

  12. JimPlamondon on October 13th, 2007 9:58 am

If the Thummer could only produce the sounds of a bass, then of course you would be correct. Except that even then the Thummer is a lot easier to carry.
