I cannot “see” your particular situation. However, I can say from experience that drummers often make good bass players. There are lots of rhythm connections between the two.

yea, so im a noob and havent gotten a bass yet, so, forgive my stupid question.
would i need a speaker and plug ETC. to play the bass on a learning stage?
sorry if my english is bad ^^’
If you are willing to hear your bass at very low volume for a while you will not need an amp, speaker, cable etc. to start learning bass.
If you start without any amplification, you will get a good, strong sound naturally out of your bass.
So your question is not stupid after all. It is good to practice bass without an amp – I do this often.
Kind regards,
George
Thank you for answering
sorry for asking but, whats the difference between solid body and hollow body and semi-solid, i don’t understand, im switching from trumpet to bass next year and i want to know.
Do you think i would be able to learn bass guitar without a teacher?i already play electric guitar which might make that easier
In short, solid body is solid (without any cavities)
hollow body has clearly defined thin top, back and sides, generally with more air on the inside than the amount of wood, and
semi-solid (or semi-hollow) has some usually non-visible cavities.
I hope this helps.

P.S. If you meant “what’s the difference in SOUND” I suggest you try it out for yourself or get a demo.
In principle, yes.
Give it a go. My online course might be a solution if you find that free online bass lessons are too random (mine are step-by-step).
George
Thanks, just got a bass and have no experience whatso ever. Hope your lessons help.

Thanks so much for for posting the lessons….the easiest I’ve been able to follow thus far. I do have a question…I have friends who’s been playing for years–and they barely touch the strings…and it sounds great! Is it absolutely necessary to press the strings hard– to develop the calluses? Or is that just a myth?

I just bought my first bass like 10 minutes ago, I really hope your lessons help, cause I sound terrible D:
Thanks for your appreciation and excellent observations.
It is true, when you have been playing for a while it seems like you are hardly touching the strings. It is only necessary to press the strings as hard as necessary. Obviously for a beginner this seems difficult in the early stages.
We do not have to develop calluses to be good players and get good tone.
Therefore, the need to develop calluses is a myth.

Congratulations! With diligent practice, mixed with a healthy dose of fun, you will improve quickly and sound excellent.
And yes, my lessons will help. Enjoy!

Hey, I’m a beginer bass player, and it seems like everytime I play the bass, it makes a vibration noise, is that sopose to happen? or am I just not holding the string down hard enough?
If you think it could be due to your fretting technique, please take a look at my You Tube Beginner Bass Lesson Number 3. This will help.
Let me know your results, because it could also be due to a convex bass neck or simply that your bass is tuned too flat.
Good luck!
