    I think his thumb is like that because he’s been playing the bass while his body was developing. But that sounds like a Chuck Norris fact.

    I know you mean to be nice and helpful, but deviating from the standard system makes it hard to play together. If you devise your own system, sure, but you can’t let the standard system slip. You should either use the standard system, or devise your own but continue to study the standard.

    Besides, I play the European system, with the notes as set by the Italians, ages ago. That’s somewhat different from what most people do.
