@Aboodikillakali if you want a good solid state, i would go with a Fender or a Marshall with a les paul. they both have a great range as far as solid state goes. thats more for blues or rock though. for metal i would use a tube. Peavey has a great line of tube amps

well, the recto is. different Mesa amps are aimed at pretty different things. a lone star wouldn’t be too ideal for that sound

The Marshall MG series 15 and 30’s are good for bedroom amps in my opinion. I have a MG30FX and I love it.

depends on the sound you are going for. the typical for those genres are tube, but the types or tubes or the type of circuit makes a lot of difference. let me know what bands you like and what sound you are after and i can give you some of my recommendations. good lock

@wickedgame26 Marshalls are overrated, its all about Bogner, Mesa/Boogie, Rivera, and Carvin

one of the best solid state amps is randal (hence: Dimebag Darrel with Pantera and their cow boys from hell album and vulgar display of power album) that was soild state with randal, i love that sound, just wish i had the money to get a randal

Nope, most practice amps have distortion and clean, some also just have distortion and some just have clean. Also, there are amps that require a channel head for effects, like for instance a Marshall stack.

best small tube amp on the market is an orange tiny terror combo.

I think that the new Vox amps are great for both live and practice situations. the VT series. All have tube preamps which give it that great tube sound without having to be expensive. Then when your practicing they have a knob on back to change the wattage that’s coming from the amp so you can turn it up to get the sound without having it extremely loud. Great from blues/metal and cleans. My favs in it’s price range!

There is no comparison between a tube amp and a solid state amp when it comes to harmonic frequency response and amplification. The harmonic response of the tube amp is much better than that of the solid state amp, hence the warmer sound but as the guy on the video says and as Hawkon33 said it’s all in the ears and the budget and how you’re going to use your amplifier.
